ABOUT TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY OF KENYA
As one of of the first three higher education institutions established in East Africa, the Technical University of Kenya became a pillar of higher learning in the region by stepping in to serve the gap of inaccessible higher education. This growing need for advanced-level learning in East Africa, led to a series of deliberations and finally implementation, seeing the Technical University of Kenya first registered as a post-secondary educational institution by the Ministry of Education in January 1967, then officially kick-start its operations in Kenya in January 1969.
The institution became a fully-fledged university when they were awarded the Charter in 2013, and now stand as the leading university in technological education and training in Kenya. They provide a wide range of technical courses at diploma level, undergraduate level and post-graduate levels.
Their core focus is primarily to train students in technical fields such as surveying and planning, and architecture; at the end producing fully-equipped professionals to serve the region’s industry needs. They also offer other intensive programmes from Mathematics, Biology to Chemistry, as well as catering to vocational subjects such as business studies, Hospitality, Technology, Design and Printing.

Technical University of Kenya doesn’t just provide advanced academic opportunities, but offer their students a wholesome campus experience. Additionally, their student body has access to over 30 student clubs and student associations to choose from; ranging from their innovation club to the Google Student club, the Japanese Cultural Association, the Young Professional Association, the Live Art Club to name a few. They also have different religious student groups, namely the Christian Union, Young Catholic Students group, Seventh Day Adventist group, Muslims Students Association and the Christian Outreach Fellowship.
