The BA History and International Studies programme at Egerton University is aimed at imparting an unequivocally inclusive history and international education. It is intended to provide the skills required to analyze and interpret national and global affairs in historical perspective. A further aim is to equip the graduates with the requisite knowledge to understand and enhance Kenya‘s place in the international community. The specific objectives of the programme are: i) To train the students in historiography and source studies, methods of historical and international relations research, and applications of conceptual and theoretical frameworks in academic writing; ii) To cultivate the students‘ expertise in Kenya‘s history and its contemporary situation whilst enabling their comprehensive study of selected aspects of African and world history. iii) To inculcate in the students awareness and informed understanding of the international system and Kenya‘s place within it. iv) To induct the students into specified subject areas for purposes of concentration and specialization.494v) To prepare students for further studies in the field of history and international studies.
