Course Overview

Students will learn to write an organized, elaborated response to a written prompt. The focus will move from simple argumentative and comparison/contrast essays to essays on controversial issues with developed arguments on concrete and abstract topics.

In reading, students will continue to read short authentic non-fiction articles, but will also do extensive reading with longer works of fiction such as novels and short stories.

ENROLLMENT AGREEMENT:
* Duration: 2 quarters, 2 courses / quarter, 1 quarter = 10 weeks
* Breakdown: 4 courses
* Total Instructional Hours: 360h
