The Master of Philosophy (M. Phil) degree in Entrepreneurship is a multi-disciplinary course covering the areas of entrepreneurship management, information technology, and informal sector and development studies. The programme is open to graduates who meet minimum entry requirements. The programme is aimed at equipping students with skills, techniques and understanding for successful development and management of business enterprises. It also aims at equipping students with the relevant skills for self-employment; and effective management of enterprises in both the private and public sectors. The programme is thus suitable for all professionals: trainers, administrators, teachers, lawyers, managers doctors, engineers, sociologists, farmers who may be either in full–time paid employment or self–employed. It targets fresh graduates, the self–employed, and employees of various organizations involved in development work and other related activities.
The main objective of the programme is to prepare professionals for leadership in the field of Entrepreneurship. The programme aims especially at providing the students with knowledge and skills that will enable them to: 1. Conceptualize, perceive, start and develop enterprises. 2. Successfully manage enterprises. 3. Develop competencies necessary for self–employment. 4. Provide consultancy and other extension services in entrepreneurship. 5. Teach, train and carry out research in entrepreneurship.
