The Doctor of Philosophy degree in Educational Management aims at preparing students for careers in educational sectors such as university teaching, institutional administration, program management, supervision of schools, educational planning, economics of education, research and consultancy. The programme emphasises acquisition of knowledge skills and positive attitudes for problem solving, leadership, situation analysis and policy formulation.

At the end of this programme the graduate will be able to:
i) To acquire knowledge, skills and positive attitudes towards educational management;
ii) Manage resources at their disposal in educational institutions;
iii) Carry out research on issues arising from their educational practice;
iv) Apply knowledge skills and attitudes to influence and formulate educational policy;
Candidates must satisfy entry requirements for Egerton University. In addition admission shall be offered to holders of Master of Education degree in Educational management. Applicants for the Doctor of Philosophy programme in Educational management shall be required to present a research project proposal acceptable to the Department of Curriculum, Instruction and Educational Management.
