The degree provides skills, knowledge and research techniques in Mathematics education to empower the graduates of the programme in the development and implementation of Mathematics programmes. It is expected that the Doctor of Philosophy Degree in Mathematics Education shall provide highly trained personnel to formulate policies and make informed decisions on Mathematics education issues.

FAQ
The programme should:
i) Prepare personnel to serve as researchers, educators and administrators of mathematics education;
ii) Evaluate mathematics education programmes;
iii) Design and conduct research in mathematics education.
Candidates must satisfy entry requirements for Egerton University. In addition admission shall be offered to holders of Master of Education degree in Science Education or its equivalent. Applicants for the Doctor of Philosophy programme in Science Education shall be required to present a research project proposal acceptable to the Department of Curriculum, Instruction and Education Management.
