Agribusiness represents all business-related activities involved in the production, finance, marketing and distribution of food and fiber. The agribusiness industry is responsible for 50% of the global economy and accounts for 90% of employment worldwide. The academic discipline of agribusiness combines theory and method in finance, marketing and management to address global agricultural issues.
The Master of Science degree in Agribusiness is geared towards enabling students from a variety of backgrounds to develop a set of critical and analytical business skills that also fulfill the unique demands of the agribusiness industry. Graduates are well prepared for successful administrative or managerial careers with either government or private-sector organizations. The Graduates with masters in Agribusiness Management have the opportunity to become part of the next generation of business professionals and leaders in agribusiness, entrepreneurship, finance, marketing, management and real estate.
The training process involves course work and research which leads to the completion of a supervised thesis. Students pursuing this programme are advised to begin discussions with faculty members early in their studies so that course work and potential employment can be geared toward supporting thesis research. The course is expected to take two academic years.

The programme objectives:
i) Advance agribusiness as a core disciplinary course at postgraduate level
ii) Produce graduates who are conversant with the myriad problem facing the Agribusiness world and the capability to provide solutions
iii) Set up a system that would enhance upgrading of the teaching and research capacity of faculties in the participating departments
iv) Enhance a locally collaborative network amongst the many players in the fields of Agribusiness
The two-year aims at exposing students to economic concepts through the 10 core courses in addition to one elective before embarking on research work. The current fields of specialization are Human Resource Management in Agribusiness, Finance & Risk Management in Agribusiness, Benefit Cost Analysis for Agribusiness Projects, Strategic
Management in Agribusiness, Agribusiness Supply Chain Management and International Agribusiness Marketing. This is intended to equip professionals with knowledge and skills essential for transforming the agro-food sectors and rural economies of Africa and the rest of the world in an environmentally sustainable fashion. This is justifiable based on the premise that highly trained local professionals will be in a better position to address the challenges posed by changes in global and local economies, technology, and marketing by adapting their advanced knowledge and methods to the particular institutional, political and economic circumstances of the world.
The common regulation for the master‘s degree as specified in the university statutes shall apply in admitting candidates for the masters in agribusiness management. Applications will be accepted from graduate in any field and professionals in mid-career, provided they satisfy prerequisites considered necessary to succeed in a rigorous program of study and research. Any missing prerequisites will be acquired prior to entry through courses offered by the collaborating departments and other reputable institutions within and outside the University.
