ABOUT KIRIRI WOMEN'S UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY -MWIHOKO GITHURAI,KASARANI
Kiriri Women’s University of Science and Technology (KWUST) is a private, women’s only Kenyan university. Kiriri Women's University is the only women's university in East and Southern Africa. As a women’s only university, they aim to bridge the gap in gender representation in higher education as well as contribute to the social and economic development of the country. The university was founded in 2002 and is accredited by The Commission for University Education (CUE).
The campus is located in an area with an ambiance conducive to genuine intellectual excitement and cutting-edge research at Kasarani. Kiriri Women’s University of Science and Technology has three intakes a year in January, May and September. The university has two schools and one faculty of science; School of Business and Management, School of Computer Science and Information Technology, and Faculty of Science. The university aims to empower women in the sciences. The philosophy of KWUST is to lead to the development of human capital through scientific search. This is achieved through an educational, scientific and technological approach.
Kiriri Women’s University of Science and Technology’s School of Business Management is engaged in creating, integrating, transferring and applying knowledge relevant to Business Management, Accounting, Finance, Marketing, Procurement, Human Resource Management and International Business. The fundamental drivers in the School include interdisciplinary, experiential and technological approaches to learning for innovation and research. The School of Computer Science and Information Technology has undergraduate programs which include Bachelor of Business Information Technology and Bachelor of Science and Computer Science. Diploma in Business Information Technology and Diploma in Information Communication Technology. Certificate in Information Communication Technology.
The Bachelor of Education (Arts) Program seeks to equip teachers with knowledge, skills and values to help them become competent teachers and student mentors and models in learning institutions. Those pursuing the course learn and train in several career options such as research, leadership and management of institutions including learning institutions and non- governmental organisations.
Kiriri Women’s University of Science and Technology believes that it is necessary to nurture professional teachers of high integrity, and who are morally and ethically upright. The university’s programmes are also guided by an appreciation of producing teachers who are critical and creative in their thinking as they respond to issues in a dynamic world. The teachers are driven to make learning interesting and enjoyable, and develop students to be capable of solving societal problems with high standards of responsibility.
