ABOUT MUKIRIA TECHNICAL TRAINING INSTITUTE

Mukiria Technical Training Institute started in 1985 as a youth polytechnic. It was assessed and upgraded to a Technical Training Institute by the then Ministry of Higher Education Science and Technology in 2011 and started its operations in 2013. Mukiria Technical Training Institute is located in Meru County and Meru Central Sub County. It is located 9km from Meru town towards Nkubu and 6km from Nkubu towards Meru town.

The Institute offers market driven courses in Business and Technical. The first intake was in January 2014 and the Institute has since then registered tremendous growth in student population and in the introduction of new courses. Its objective is to offer hands-on training in technical skills with strong component of entrepreneurship for self-employment which is in line with the institution’s motto, ‘Excellence in skills and competence’.

The Institute targets all students who are unable to access university education. This is in line with Kenya Vision 2030 where the Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Colleges are one of the key drivers to transform Kenya into a “newly industrializing middle level income country”, providing a high quality of life to all its citizens by 2030 in a clean and secure environment. MTTI aims to be a Centre of Excellence in the development and provision of innovative Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programs in Kenya and beyond. They seek to nurture and impart Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) knowledge, skills and attitudes through research, innovation and technology for self-reliance and national development.

Mukiria Technical Training Institute is set to become a premier training institute in Meru County. There are serious plans to expand its capacity to absorb students to train in Business and Technical courses. MTTI training programs emphasize in acquisition of work competence, entrepreneurial and ICT integrated skills. Mukiria Technical Training Institute is committed to its dynamic strategic plan, vision and mission and motto.

The Institute offers courses that are market driven and closes the gaps in the labor market. The future to quality training in technology, innovations and development is bright in Mukiria Technical Training Institute. The Institutional Management department has two sections namely Clothing Section and Food and Beverage Section. The department admits Craft and Artisan students. As a higher learning institute, MTTI is driven to foster the best in their students and provide them with the academic support, resources and tools they need to succeed at an academic level and at a personal level.
