About Technical University of Kenya

The Technical University of Kenya officially started operations in Kenya in January 1961. It prides itself as being one of the first three higher education institutions established in East Africa. The history of the institution dates back to 1920 when there was heightened agitation for the expansion of access to higher education by local leaders in the East Africa Community. it was during this time that the concept of establishing a higher learning institution was deliberated on an later implemented.

The university was first registered by the Ministry of Education as a post-secondary educational institution in January 1967. It's objective is to train largely in the technical fields such as surveying and planning and Architecture. Other programs include Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry. Moreover, the center offers other vocational subjects such as business studies, Hospitality, Technology, Design and Printing.

International Students:  The university admits international students. International Students must meet the minimum requirements recognized by the university senate. International students will be required to take an English Test
