ABOUT AFRICA DIGITAL MEDIA INSTITUTE
Africa Digital Media Institute was established in 2011 as Jamuhuri Film Television Academy by Wilfred Kiumi. He created JFTA to transfer knowledge to young and enthusiastic filmmakers in Kenya. Classes at JFTA began in February 2012, initially with just five students taking courses in Film and TV Production. By 2013, JFTA had gained an excellent reputation and built successful partnerships with organisations such as FilmAid, Kenya Film Studios and SuperSport Studios.
JFTA formally rebranded to ADMI in 2015 and today they have extremely qualified and experienced staff teaching more than 300 students from across Africa, supported by a strong board and a highly respected Advisory Council. ADMI is a leading creative media and technology training institution offering practical courses in Film and TV production, Journalism and Multimedia, Mobile App and Game Development, Music Production, Sound Engineering, Animation and Motion Graphics, Graphic Design, Photography, Multimedia and Digital Marketing.
The programmes at Africa Digital Media Institute combine high-spec technical training in creative media and technology with intensive digital and soft-skills coaching, along with a rigorous apprenticeship process, to achieve a 90% placement rate. Since the school’s inception over 1,500 students have been admitted at the Nairobi campus representing 22 countries, which include Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, DRC, Ethiopia, South Sudan, Benin, Liberia, Ghana, Nigeria, Côte d’Ivoire, Malawi, Sudan, India, Germany, Hungary, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom and the United States.
ADMI together with its foundation and studios form an innovative learn-and-work social enterprise whereby young creatives get the training, mentorship and resources they need to turn their passion into a profession. The school has local and international partnerships to open doors across the world for its students.
The partnerships include Google, which has been a supportive partner, providing curriculum support and helping with course design, faculty selection and participant mobilisation for some of our market-leading short courses. ADMI’s Film & TV programme has an Articulation Agreement with Full Sail University, the foremost creative media and technology college in the United States. This agreement provides Film & TV Production students with transfer credits, used towards a degree course at Full Sail. Africa Digital Media Institute is a member of the oracle academy and academic collaborations are ongoing with the Queensland University of Technology (Australia).
ADMI presents the ideal learning environment, resources, team and tools required by creatives in taking their talents and passions to the next level, and this is what the institution is driven to achieve.
