The Methodist Church first thought of the notion of starting the University in 1986, when there was a need for higher education facilities in the region. Following deliberations by the Higher Education committee that was formed to pursue this vision, Methodist University was officially authorized to operate as a private university in 1997 and later awarded a charter in 2006. As the prestigious university it is recognized as to date, it offers local and international students access to quality higher education across various diploma, undergraduate and post-graduate programmes.
