Bachelor of Science in Industrial Chemistry

Mount Kenya University’s Bachelor of Science in Industrial Chemistry is four years, full-time, on-campus degree that is offered by the Department of Physical Sciences. The programme is designed to equip students to understand the chemical processes that drive biological systems. 

The Bachelor of Science in Industrial Chemistry programme is designed to provide real world situations full of various techniques of teaching, research, knowledge, skills, attitudes, and experiences that prepare them to meet challenges in the study of Industrial Chemistry. The programme comprises exploring subjects such as biochemistry, biotechnology and genetic engineering. Students are taught to apply principles and practical knowledge regarding chemical engineering and chemistry to solve problems facing the industry. 

Graduates of Bachelor of Science in Industrial Chemistry go on to become Biomedical Chemists, Lab Chemists and Technicians. The programme aims at producing highly qualified professionals who will work in sectors such as the Pharmaceutical industry, Government laboratories and the Oil and petroleum industry. Strong ethical principles, good interpersonal communication values and efficient trained team work are some of the expected outcomes of learning this course.
