PREMESE was initially founded as a Company Limited by Guarantee in 1992 and stands for Prime Education and Mentoring Service. Eight years later (January 2000), PREMESE was re-registered as PREMESE Africa, a Participatory Development Training Institute. The college specialises in training in a wide range of areas including Community Development, Community Health, Project Management, Social Work, Business Studies, Human Resource Management, Disaster Management, Counselling Psychology, Management of HIV/AIDS, Sales and Marketing, Early Childhood Education (including Montessori Teachers Training) and Primary Education. The institution has been registered by the Ministry of Higher Education (Science and Technology, the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) and the Commission of Higher Education, amongst others. 

Premese Africa College provides a well-equipped, serene, and exciting learning environment for its students and strives to always work with other like minded professionals and institutions in the provision of holistic education that imparts knowledge, skills, and attitudes to empower individuals towards becoming masters of their own destinies. Many of their students are now working in NGOs, Faith-Based Organisations, Bilateral Government Programmes, and CBOs within the East African region. In addition, graduates of this college work in many different countries including Kenya, Sudan, Somalia, Uganda, Ethiopia, Burundi, and Rwanda. While most graduates enter these organisations as interns, they end up securing jobs for themselves as a result of sterling performance.
